On January 29, 2018 at 6:30pm Salem Public Library will host a program about the life of the creator of the McGuffey Reader series, William Holmes McGuffey. The program will be presented by a descendant of Mr. McGuffey, Shirley Eckley. Mr. McGuffey was a dedicated educator and an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church. The McGuffey Readers were a series of graded primers (books) for grade levels 1-6. Mr. McGuffey’s dedication to teaching and ministering to others made a lasting difference in the lives he touched. Join us in the library’s Quaker Room located at 821 E. State St., Salem, OH for an interesting presentation about this noted teacher.
