Executive Director Christopher Gilchrist of the National Museum of the Great Lakes will present the program, “Edmund Fitzgerald: What Really Happened?” at Salem Public Library on Monday, September 30, 2019 beginning at 6:30 pm. The program will explore a brief history of shipping on the Great Lakes and then proceed to the story of the impressive and exciting life of the Edmund Fitzgerald. During the 18 years she sailed, she often carried record breaking loads. Her loss on November 10, 1975 still puzzles many to this day. We will explore several of the prevailing theories on her loss.
