Salem Public Library is pleased to host a most unique sound xperience with a visit from Kathleen Calby, founder of Re-Sounding Joy, on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm in the library’s Quaker Room at 821 E. State St. Salem, Ohio. Ms. Calby will share an introduction to the history and use of Himalayan singing bowls which are made from alloyed metals and produce intricate sounds. Ms. Calby said, “We usually believe we hear with our ears and forget that even our muscles and bones respond to sound and vibration.” She will perform a concert using the Himalayan bowls and gem crystal bowls. The gem crystal bowls she uses are infused with rubies, emeralds and diamonds.

Ms. Calby’s performance experience includes playing in nursing homes, yoga studios, meditation centers, libraries, and churches. Her programs provide an opportunity to experience deep relaxation for stress reduction through the richness of sound.

This program for adults is free of cost to attend. Registration is required by stopping in the library or by calling 330-332-0042 (please choose option 2).
